Camille Norment’s vision for her solo exhibit at Dia Chelsea included wood elements that exaggerated and mirrored the gallery’s existing structural elements. The 16” wide boards, up to 19’ long, are not a dimension found in quantity at any lumber yard. We worked with the exhibition designer to translate the installation into a list of materials, found a sustainable source of logs for milling, and had the wood cut to spec and delivered to our studio. There we prepped it for hidden audio components and finished it using low-VOC water based stains and natural oils.
